Retrōspicere | Japan
In Retrōspicere (meaning; 'to look back’) past imagery is taken from the An Irrational Element archive and curated into a visual novella as to reflect and conjure feelings, memories and thoughts.
A trip to Japan in September, 2024 took me to multiple of the great and known cities of its land, in between I took the opportunity to explore the smaller towns and places too. It has been a lifelong dream to visit the country and being able to experience Japan’s people, nature, architecture & general culture. All of which proved to be a true pleasure. Moreover I found that the country as a whole radiates a calmness that fabricates a feeling of nostalgia and a longing to come back. There are not many places that are able to evoke this feeling and while I will definitely visit Japan again, for now I will look back through the pictures I’ve taken during this trip, my retrōspicere.
